Thanks for another great episode!  I really enjoyed all the articles.  The timeline segment is growing on me -- should I get that checked? -- and I may have to check out The Wire now.  As long as it's not "another cop show," which just like new medical dramas makes me want to shudder.

Jool was certainly annoying at first, but her (supposed) death in PK Wars was shocking and sad at the same time.  I guess she found a place in my heart after all.

Oh, and if you're interested in the Google thing Lindy and Nicola were discussing, check Google Alerts.  It will search keywords for you in Google then send you an e-mail on your schedule with the results.  It's very useful.

Another GREAT new Scapecast episode !!!!!

I am continually amazed at the job you do on each of these. There is always something new and fresh  ( sound like a show that was on SCI-FI ??? )

The Jool review was good, but I agree with Micheal, she wasn't my favorite, but a good review.
I REALLY like the Timeline segments. It's like a microwave version of an entire season !!!!
T.T. is just a riot ... lipstick on a ____ ... it put a smile on my face !!!!

Thanks again ... Scape On !!!

Thank God for the ScapeCast! :) I just got home from having a little oral surgery done to remove this nasty cyst from my gums today, and I was glad to hear that I could bring my MP3 player to listen to the latest ScapeCast episode while it was being done. It was really hard for me not to laugh, though. Particularly when Tralk Talk was going on. I want to extend my sincerest thanks to all of you guys for being with me -metaphorically speaking, of course- during such a trying procedure. I really needed something to keep my mind off of what they were doing to me. If it weren't for the fact that the chair was so comfortable, I would've felt I was in the Aurora Chair.

That said, I thought everything was great, even the character review for Jool. I actually grew to appreciate her a little more after hearing this review. I actually started to see her as more than just the Uncharted Territories' equivalent to a Jewish American Princess. No offense is intended to those listeners and crew members who are of the Jewish faith, btw. It's just that Jool's attitude initially -and rather strongly- reminded me of the attitude of quite a few Jewish girls that I had met during my high school years. Also, Nicola did a brilliant job filling in for Kevin. It made for a nice change of pace. I don't want lay any pressure on anyone, but now I'm actually really curious how Hank or Kurt would handle being in the hosting chair. Well, keep up the great work!

Glad we could help, MAS.  :)

Hank has come close a few times to hosting, actually.  Always something getting in the way (on our side, not his).

I think it was great, except for that lame-ass bit at 6.42 when that geeky schmuck says hi.... ;)

And I always liked Jool. What the character analysis didn't mention, to my surprise, is that Jool had another purpose: she was the viewpoint character, the person who didn't know anything. Crichton had that role initially, of course, but by the time the third season rolled around, Crichton knew the lay of the land, so they needed a new newbie.

Thank you for all your kind words - it was a fun (if nerve-wracking) experience.  And I have to thank Brent most sincerely for not picking a blooper that would totally mortify me... ('cause there were many).

For those who are still looking for the Farscape Comics and haven't managed to track 'em down yet - the Farscape Canada Merchandise Page has them available for pre-order.  All orders will also receive a Farscape Canada pen and keychain with your choice of character.    What could be better than that?   :)   (OK - Season 5 and a feature film trilogy would be better than that.   But for the moment - this is the best Farscape Canada could do. ;) )

What the character analysis didn't mention, to my surprise, is that Jool had another purpose: she was the viewpoint character, the person who didn't know anything. Crichton had that role initially, of course, but by the time the third season rolled around, Crichton knew the lay of the land, so they needed a new newbie.
One could argue, though, that Sikozu had the same purpose in S4, and they used her to much better effect than they did Jool. Sikozu's arc was integrated better with the Moyans and Scorpy because she had a stake in the Scarran vs Peacekeeper conflict, but she still managed to retain her own agenda and remain somewhat of a wild card. We were constantly reminded of how Sikozu was "still learning" about how the Moyans operated, and she was very much so the outsider, but it was always interesting to watch how she would try to fit in- sort of like a square peg in a round hole.

By contrast, I always felt that Jool felt shoe-horned in because she didn't have any connection anyone in the larger framework of Farscape, be it Peacekeeper, Scarran or even Nebari. She plays the part of the newbie as a window for the audience, but her character only really served as exposition which is fine only up to a point. Over time, she grated because it seemed the writers didn't know what to do with her and emotionally we had nothing to connect with her over.

That's why PKW was so different in terms of the audience's reaction to Jool. Not only were the Moyans revisiting an old friend/ally, she had her own stake in the main narrative because of her time with the Eidelons. We cared when we saw her (maybe?) death, not only because of the history we had with her character, but because she was finally operating as her own agent, with her own agenda. This is what we should have gotten from her in S3.  Because from a newbie POV, from someone who watched PKW before watching any Farscape, my brother was able to follow along with Jool playing exposition fairy and still felt bad when she died.

So I see your point and I see where they were trying to do with her character, but I don't think they executed it well enough until PKW. It's sort of a shame Jool died right when she was actually starting to show some interesting growth.

But, um, yeah, topic: Good job with the articles, guys!
