I also haven't had the pleasure of going to a Farscape convention or get-together. However, I have started saving some of my money in the hopes that I can go to the 3rd Annual Final Frelling Farewell. If there is one, that is. ;) I really wanna put some pics of me with some of the Farscape actors on my Facebook! I've said this already, but my good friend Maria has a pic of herself and Edward James Olmos on her Facebook, and honestly, I'm a little bit jealous. :-[

My first was Burbank '08. It was great to be in the same room with all those actors I've enjoyed, and I also liked meeting the ScapeCast crew!  However, I must admit that Anthony Simcoe kissing me on the cheek was the highlight of the weekend.  WHOO HOO!

Heeheehee.  I put a big piece of packing tape on that cheek, captured all the Simcoe cells, and put it in a hermetically-sealed jar on Funk & Wagnall's porch.  (How's THAT for an obscure reference?  Geez, my brain is like flypaper.)

My first Farscape con was Burbank 2008.  I was worried at first, partly because it was the first con for my wife and I, but also because I had never met any of the people there except online.  Add in the fact that we were rooming with people we had never met, and you have the recipe for front-page news axe murders.  ;)

In all seriousness, it was a great time.  We got over our shyness very quickly and discovered the truth about Scapers, which is that they are really a global family.  Scapers embody the concept of bringing diversity together and building relationships on the strengths each of us has, very much like the Moyans.

The highlights were meeting the Scapecast cast and crew and getting to shake Anthony Simcoe's hand in gratitude for D'Argo.  I can tell that the friendships we made in only three days time will be there for much, much longer.

I fully recommend taking the time to attend one of these events if you can.  Take it from two former con virgins:  you'll have the time of your life.

My first con was Burbank 2008.  I only found out about cons in early 2007 after hearing about the Farscape one on the Scapecast and Dragoncon and Comic-con on the Slice of SciFi podcast.  After hearing that 2007 was going to be the last and then finding out they were putting on a second final frelling farewell con, I made the decision that I had to go in 2008 in case I missed out on going to at least one.

I'm so glad I went.  I had a fantastic time, met some great people, and seeing the wonderful actors I've enjoyed so much was a dream come true.  And how can I forget watching a live taping of the Scapecast and David's cabaret.  Scapers are definitely the most friendly people.

My first get together with Scapers was in Perth, Western Australia earlier this year.  They are a lovely, friendly bunch.  I also found my roomie for Burbank at the meet up when we discovered we were both going for the first time this year and could support each other.
