Rewatching Season 2
« on: December 12, 2009, 08:39:18 PM »
I started watching Season 2 via the DVD megaset today.

I liked Mind The Baby and Vitas Mortis.

Taking the Stone was kind of repellant to me and Crackers Don't Matter annoyed me.

The gawdawful makeup for Chiana in TTS was the initial jumping off point for me not liking the episode.

Watched The Way We Weren't and Picture If You Will today.

Loved the former. I think it was a note perfect way of using the flashback storytelling device to give us more of a historical background on Moya, Pilot and of course Aeryn.

The latter episode...argh...I just hate Maldis...terrible villain despite how they tried to make him so badass.

Watched The Way We Weren't

One of my favorite episodes of the entire series.  Really showed me how special Farscape could be.

I watched Home on the Remains which was interesting with the whole Zhaan budding thing but the alien with the southern accent on the ass end of space was very weird.

Dream a Little Dream was wacky with the planet run by crazy lawyers. But at least we got an idea of what everyone on Moya was up to after leaving John, Aeryn and D'Argo behind.

I have not made it to season 2 in my rewatch of the new set, but I always loved Maldis. The season 1 episode had some moments that didn't work quite as well as one would hope, since it was the first season. I really enjoyed Chris Haywood's portroyal of Maldis and got the sense that he was really having fun with the role. He is no Shane Briant (Kaarvok from Eat Me), but a very good sci-fi TV villain.

I watched the three episodes of  Look At The Princess yesterday.

They ought to have called it "How John Crichton Got His Groove On".

Kissing Aeryn, Katralla AND getting it on with the Peacekeeper spy/assassin? How did they miss letting Crichton make a Captain Kirk remark?

It was a really good story and one that I liked quite a bit.

I thought the way they did Crichton's heartbreak over having a daughter that he'll never see was well done, and honestly I'd like to see something about that addressed in the new comics series.

And I liked the assassin/spy, do we ever see her again I wonder?

D'argo was hilarious when he spoke of "the good news" being he and Chiana having lots of sex.

Just a well done trilogy arc.

Have you seen the comics?
They do address it in one way... in an Unrealized Reality, John is married to Katrala and living on Moya with her and their daughter.
Brent, being a HUGE comic fan, of course I've seen the comics.

But like you said, that is an alternate reality, not Farscape Prime Universe.

One thing I forgot to mention about the Princess trilogy.

I liked how Crichton wasn't afraid to mention, to Aeryn of all people, that Scorpius scared him. He's got the space hero bravado when needed but it shows that there is a limit to his adaptability to his surroundings.

Oh and I watched Won't Get Fooled Again yesterday.

Seriously, who was dropping acid while either writing or approving this script? Crazy-ass stuff going on. Interesting and fun at times, but still drop dead weird.

I watched The Locket, The Ugly Truth and A Clockwork Nebarri yesterday.

As much as I loved The Locket the first time around, for some reason it didn't feel as great this time. (Keep in mind that I haven't seen a lot of the episodes in a long time). I still loved the stuff on the planet with Old Aeryn and Old John but for some reason the rest of the episode struck me as kind of "MEH".

In the Ugly Truth, what the hell was up with that interrogation chair? It looked like a cross between the comfiest recliner chair and an obstetrics table. And what a simply disgusting alien of the week. Was there ever any explanation about why they looked like the worst case of teenage acne ever?

As for A Clockwork Nebarri, how the hell did Vala and the spy Nebarri get the drop on Aeryn to "cleanse" her mind? The vengeful bastard side of me hopes they dumped Vala out the nearest airshaft. Although I did like the introduction of the virus to infect the galaxy. Of course, I would've probably sent out a "press release" so that others would know what the Nebarri were up to.

I finished watching the three part Liars, Guns and Money arc.

Really good botched caper plot.

From the flip out of D'Argo to the mental breakdown of John it just seemed like the show really had themselves a ball with these three episodes.

Natirah licking Scorpius under his leather suit was so beyond creepy...

You know it is a bad thing when you have to put your faith in Stark. I liked Z'haan as the bad bank depositor.

Then I finished season 2 by watching Die Me, Dichotomy. I like the Diagnoscian but man Grunschlick is just a despicable being in both acts and appearance. The scene showing the chip and the webs growing over Crichton's brain was cringe inducing.

Scorpius leaving John on the table unable to communicate was a nice touch, it is a far more diabolical ending than simply killing him.

Aeryn....ahhhhh dammit. I remember watching the show on TV for the first time and being crushed thinking she was gone for good.

Now I get to watch the third and fourth seasons all over again and since I haven't seen them at all in years, it will almost be like watching them for the first time.
